She thought she was giving me flowers
-
This quilt represents the client’s deep connection to the rhythm of the seasons, her homestead and young daughters. She provided inspiration of an autumnal, yet earthy palette and provided tiny baby clothes which easefully fit into this colour scheme. The quilt design was a nod to her breathtaking flower garden. Many of the fabrics used in the quilt were plant dyed, an ode to her relationship with the plant world. The sashiko thread used to hand quilt was dyed with wattle, a flower which the client described as bringing her immense joy at the beginning of autumn. The signature panel was made from a little pocket, unpicked from a pair of her daughter’s toddler overalls.
