Studio notes

It begins: with the palette. Finding that sweet spot where each colour holds is own while also holding hands with each other. Then scissors and a question “how much quilt math will really be needed?*” Moving through the great triangulation: cutting table, sewing machine, iron, repeat. Once the star has been brought down, stitches will anchor her. Find a sunny spot, it’s spring after all. Thread the needle, leather thimble, rows running back and forth, forth and back. Heart beat synchronising with each stitch. Last, to bind her, enclosing the edges, tending to the fray. Tiny wee stitches, barely seen, delicate mark making, framing. And then she is complete. A homage to all things slow, the pace of hands and heartbeat and spring sunshine.
